Update: Dano2l has a much better diary up on the recommend list, with a lot more local perspective. Dano is clearly more on top of this race than I am, and says other candidates running may not be as flashy as Harris, but have more investment in building a Democratic structure in Georgia. Dano says this race may not be winnable, but it is not being abandoned to MTG as I feared. It sounds like MTG will have a Democratic opponent that at the least will make Republicans spend time and money protecting MTG, and at best will help push President Biden's Georgia vote count up. This is what we're here for, more and better Democrats.
...........Below is my original diary, before I got taken to the woodshed:
I stumbled on this article from Washington Blade: www.washingtonblade.com/2024/04/03/meet-shawn-harris-the-democrat-who-seeks-to-oust-marjorie-taylor-greene/
I had not seen any coverage about any serious contenders here on DKos, only all the tears and gnashing of teeth that she is beloved in her hateful district and that she would never be unseated.
This is a great interview with Shawn Harris. He has to make it through a not particularly challenging primary, and then has an uphill battle for the seat if he actually gets on the ballot.
Harris is working with Marcus Flowers, who made a valiant campaign effort last time, but fell short.
Shawn Harris represents many of the strengths of Marcus Flowers, two black veterans with strong Georgia roots; but Shawn Harris brings some added strengths. Harris retired as a Brigadier General. In his last assignment, he was a defense attache in Israel at the US embassy in Tel Aviv.

Interestingly, Harris is also a credible cattle rancher, a member of both the US and the Georgia Cattlemens’ Associations.
He is pledging to work every zip code in his District. Harris is out there asking all of the hard questions, “What has Marjorie Greene done for you or for our district?” and “Do you think her behavior represents our values?”
Harris goes out with other farmers in his district and pitches in on their farmwork as he makes his political pitch. Harris lets them see that he is both a fighter and a leader.
Harris has pledged to listen to the voters in his district and represent their getting a fair shake in life. Why should Georgians have to drive for hours every day to work in Tennessee or Alabama? Why can’t they have good jobs at home in Georgia?
Marjorie Greene acts as if her voters are beneath her, and doesn’t even maintain an outreach office in her District.
It’s time to stop acting as if Marjorie Taylor Greene is unbeatable and that we are stuck with her forever.
The 14th District of Georgia deserves quality representation and is a fine place to start to fill the Congress with more and better Democrats.
